Taipei, June 12 (CNA) A plum rain front is expected to arrive in Taiwan on Wednesday, dumping heavy rain on the entire country, the Central Weather Bureau warned Monday.
The front, accompanied by moist southwestern winds, is likely to create extreme weather conditions as it lingers over Taiwan, forecasters said.
The wet weather would last five to eight days, bringing extremely heavy rain islandwide, the bureau said.
The weather bureau defines extremely heavy rain as accumulated rainfall that exceeds 200 millimeters within 24 hours, or accumulated rainfall of more than 100 millimeters over a three-hour period.
Meanwhile, the weather on Monday was expected to remain similar to Sunday's, with afternoon thunderstorms across Taiwan and highs of 32-34 degrees Celsius, according to the bureau.
