Taipei, Sept. 28 (CNA) Taiwan signed six agreements with the Philippines at the 2017 Taiwan-Philippines Industrial Collaboration Summit in Manila on Thursday for collaboration in the field of Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and smart machinery.

Under the leadership of Taipei-based Chinese National Federation of Industries (CNFI) Chairman Rock Hsu (許勝雄), Taiwan's Committee on Asia-Pacific Industrial Cooperation (CAPIC) attended the summit that was co-hosted by the CNFI and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).

According to a CNFI statement, Taiwan and the Philippines signed six key agreements during the summit, which was attended by representatives of the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association, the Taiwan Photovoltaic Industry Association, the Philippine Die and Mold Association, and the Philippine Plastics Industry Association (PPIA), among others.

The CNFI and the PCCI signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish a formal window of communication through which both groups can share the latest industrial development news and collaborate on talent development, industry tours and forums.

On the subject of innovations in communications technology, Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute signed two separate MOUs, one with First Asia Venture Capital and one with Brainspark, to promote opportunities for startup companies from both countries to work together on new products.

Other agreements were between Taiwan's Institute for Information Industry and the Philippine Software Industry Association, and the Association of CAE Molding Technology and PPIA in the fields of AI and machinery, respectively.
