Taipei, Sept. 6 (CNA) A Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) delegation to the U.S. signed six memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with local companies for further cooperation and investment, according to a press release published on Wednesday.
The MOEA delegation, led by Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) Deputy Director Yu Chen-wei (游振偉), returned to Taiwan on Monday after a successful six-day trip.
The delegation signed a total of six MOUs with the Trade Development Alliance of Greater Seattle (TDA), CleanTech Alliance, Boise State University, and Rockwell Automation Inc.
These represent an opportunity to link developing sectors in Taiwan, such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, innovation, clean energy, and smart manufacturing, with advanced technology and innovative new industries in the U.S.. officials from the IDB said.
Yu noted that the MOUs signed with TDA and the CleanTech Alliance, which is also based in Seattle, promote collaboration between Taiwan and the Greater Seattle region.
He also said the MOU signed between Nexcom, the Industrial Technology Research Institute, Providence University, and Boise State University creates a partnership that will elevate the standard of Taiwan's industrial professionals and manufacturing capability.
The delegation visited Microsoft, Boeing, Micron, Rockwell Automation, and Eaton Corporation while in the U.S.
It is also very likely that Taiwan's aviation sector will receive an additional NT$2 billion in annual orders in the future after a successful meeting with Boeing to expand Taiwan's collaborative partnership with the company, Yu noted.
