Taipei, Sept. 4 (CNA) National Development Council (NDC) Minister Chen Tain-jy (陳添枝) said Monday that he will not retain his current position after the Cabinet resigns en masse later this week.
Chen said he felt relieved now that he has completed the tasks that he had to accomplish as minister.
During his tenure, the NDC introduced three measures to try to boost private-sector investment, including establishing a national investment company, setting up a NT$100 billion (US$3.33 billion) fund to help business innovation and transformation and promoting the "five plus two" industries, Chen said.
The "five plus two" industries include green energy technology, the development of an Asian Silicon Valley, biomedicine, intelligent machinery, national defense and aerospace, plus the development of a new agricultural paradigm and a circular economy.
He expressed confidence that Taiwan's economy will recover as long as the government increases its efforts.
Premier Lin Chuan (林全) confirmed Monday that he had tendered his resignation, and that his Cabinet will resign en masse on Thursday.
